What is the Learning Management System (LMS)?

The Learning Management System, or LMS, is the actual host site where all of the RMU courses and videos reside. While you can read about the available courses on the RMU website, the LMS is where you actually take a course. On the LMS you will find the on-line courses, related materials, and course quizzes. It is also where you will print your Certificate of Completion for each course.

What is Risk Management University?

Risk Management University is an educational resource of EIIA, designed specifically to address the insurance and risk management needs of higher education. Through both on-line and classroom courses, along with extensive reference material, we have created this learning resource that fosters risk management ownership and accountability throughout the entire campus.

I see the terms Enroll, Register and Take Course. Please explain each of these.

Enroll:  A User must first enroll in Risk Management University to receive access to the Learning Management System (LMS).  Risk Management Administrators must submit a form to enroll you for User access. If you are unsure who your Administrator is, please contact Monica Turner at RMU@EIIA.org.

Register:  Risk Management University offers a variety of training courses on insurance and risk management topics and registration is required for each course. Once you have enrolled in Risk Management University, you may register to take course offerings of your choice.  To search and register for a course, follow these steps:

>Log into the LMS at EIIARMU.net.
>From the My Home page, select Register for Courses in the middle toolbar
>Select a course from the list and view the description
>Select Register
>Confirm your information is correct
>Select Submit
>Select Finish
>Choose Register for Another Course or choose Done

You will now return to the My Home page. Click on Select a Course in the top left toolbar to start desired course.

Note: You will receive a confirmation email verifying the course you have registered for.

Take Course:  When you take a course you will view the content, watch course video, take a brief quiz, complete a short survey and print a certificate of completion.

Please be sure to complete the following steps first:

1) Enroll as a User and
2) Register for a Course(s)

To take a course, follow these steps:

>Log into the LMS at EIIARMU.net.
>From the My Home page, click Select a Course in the top left toolbar
>Using the dropdown arrow, select a course from the list

You are now in the selected course’s Home page. From here, you may navigate to News Items, Events, and more. Or you may choose Take This Course Now in the middle toolbar to access each section of the course.

How do I access the Learning Management System (LMS)?

There are two ways to access the LMS. Use the LMS link(s) below, or type one of the following into your browser:

1) www.EIIARMU.net
2) www.EIIARMU.org and select Log Into Courses at the top of the page

At the Login page, you will be prompted to enter your User Name and Password. If you do not have a User Name, please contact your Risk Management University Administrator.  Administrators must submit a request for User access to Monica Turner at rmu@eiia.org.

Is there a quick link to the LMS?

To quickly access the LMS you may choose one of the following options:

1) Go directly to the LMS by typing, www.EIIARMU.net into your browser. Tip: Add this link to your favorites or bookmark for future reference.

2) If you are at the RMU website (www.EIIARMU.org):
>Select Log Into Courses at the top of the page; or
>Select Log Into Courses from the Enroll Today box at that bottom of the page

How do I change my LMS password?

There are three ways to change your password:

1) Each User will receive an automated email confirming their enrollment. The confirmation will also have your User Name and a link to setup your password.

2) If you wish to change or have forgotten your password, please contact Monica Turner at RMU@EIIA.org or 888-255-4835.

3) You may also select "Forgot Your Password?" on the Login page. This link opens a new window where you can request a password reset.

How do I know if I have an LMS account?

To determine if you have an LMS account, please contact your Risk Management University Administrator. If you do not know who your Risk Management University Administrator is, please contact Monica Turner at RMU@EIIA.org, and we can provide your administrator’s information.

How do I get LMS Administrative rights?

Only the one designated Campus Risk Management University Administrator can have administrative rights. Please contact Monica Turner at RMU@EIIA.org to discuss your specific needs.

I have a User name for the EIIA website (www.EIIA.org). Does this mean I have a RMU account already?

The EIIA website (www.EIIA.org) and the RMU learning management system (www.EIIARMU.org) are two separate platforms.  Members with access to EIIA website may or may not have access to RMU.  However, Members with access to RMU will be given access to the EIIA website in order to view related course materials and resources.

If you have EIIA website access and would like to take the online RMU courses, please have your RMU administrator submit an enrollment form on your behalf.

Use of Other Devices/Mobile Access


Is the LMS, Mac compatible?

Yes, Mac users can access the LMS. There are no differences from an end-user perspective. The application is browser-based and designed to be accessed by Mac or personal computers.

Can I access the LMS from a mobile device or tablet?

You may access the LMS from select mobile devices and smartphones. The LMS supports the following platforms: Windows Phone, Android Tablet, Android Phone, BlackBerry 7, BlackBerry 6, iPad, iPhone.

Note: We recommend you take courses via a desktop or laptop computer to get the best viewing experience and access to full system features. A wired connection is recommended. Quizzes and surveys, for example, may be difficult to navigate on a smartphone. Download times and video streaming may vary depending on your device and service provider.

How do I log into the LMS from my mobile device or tablet?

There are two ways to access the LMS from your mobile device or tablet:

1) EIIARMU.net
2) www.EIIARMU.org and select Log Into Courses at the top of the page

I completed a course using my smartphone; can I print my Certificate of Completion when I have printer access?

Yes. You may return to the course at any time to print (or re-print) your Certificate of Completion.

General Usage Questions


Is there a charge for the LMS courses?

There is no charge. All courses are provided as part of the EIIA’s Risk Management services.

Where can I get detailed User instructions?

For detailed instructions, go to the Enroll Today page on the RMU website and view or download User (or Administrator) Instructions.

You may also access detailed instructions inside the LMS by following these steps:

>Log into the LMS at EIIARMU.net
>You are now at the My Home page
>Scroll down to User Instructions, located under the News heading

Who is my Risk Management University Administrator?

Please contact Monica Turner at RMU@EIIA.org, and we can provide your campus administrator’s information.

How do I obtain my User ID and Password?

Please contact your Risk Management University Administrator. Administrators must submit a request on your behalf for User access. If you are unsure who your Administrator is, please contact Monica Turner at RMU@EIIA.org.

My EIIA.org login does not work on the RMU login page. What should I do?

The EIIA website (www.EIIA.org) and the RMU learning management system (www.EIIARMU.org) are two separate platforms.  Members with access to EIIA website may or may not have access to RMU.  However, Members with access to RMU will be given access to the EIIA website in order to view related course materials and resources.

If you have EIIA website access and would like to take the online RMU courses, please have your RMU administrator submit an enrollment form on your behalf.

How do I search and register for a course?

To search and register for a course, follow these steps:

>Log into the LMS at EIIARMU.net
>From the My Home page, select Register for Courses in the middle toolbar
>Select a course from the list and view the description
>Select Register
>Confirm your information is correct
>Select Submit
>Select Finish
>Choose Register for Another Course or choose Done

You will now return to the My Home page. Click on Select A Course in the top left toolbar to start desired course.

Note: You will receive a confirmation email verifying the course you have registered for.

How do I verify that I am registered in a training course?

When you register for a course you will receive a confirmation email verifying the course you have registered for.

You may also log into the LMS (EIIARMU.net) and see what courses you are registered for by viewing My Courses list on the My Home page.

How do I my track courses?

You may view the courses you have registered for by accessing the My Courses list from the My Home page located in the LMS.  

Once you have registered for a course, you can track which sections have been completed.

>Select Take This Course Now, scroll to the Table of Contents

* Completed sections are indicated by a green check mark.  
* Incomplete sections are followed by a number indicating how many items are left to complete. For example, Survey – 2 means there are two incomplete items in the course survey.

Is there a time limit to take a course?

There is no time limit to take a course. However, the system may log you out if you are inactive for over 180 minutes. Should this happen, you will see an inactivity message on your screen, prompting you to log back in.

Are there quizzes or tests?

A quiz is a part of each learning module. The quiz is simply an extension of the learning process and is not graded. Users will receive detailed answers, feedback and often additional supporting sources of information.

Note: The quiz must be taken in order to receive a Certificate of Completion for each course.

Is there a time limit to take a quiz?

There is no time limit to take a quiz. However, the system may log you out if you are inactive for over 180 minutes. Should this happen, you will see an inactivity message on your screen, prompting you to log back in.

 

Is there a limit on the number of times I take a quiz?

There is no limit on the number of attempts to take a quiz.

 

Can I save a quiz and return later to complete it?

Yes, you can return to a quiz later to complete it but you must be sure to save your answers before leaving the course or logging out of the system. To return to the quiz, follow these steps:

>Log into the LMS at EIIARMU.net.
>From the My Home page, click Select a Course in the top toolbar
>Select Take This Course Now in the middle toolbar
> From the Table of Contents on the left, select Quiz

When the quiz window opens up, you will see Attempt in Progress, indicating you have previously started  this quiz.  
>Select Continue with Quiz to proceed

How long will it take me to complete the Survey?

The survey contains six questions and is estimated to take no longer than two minutes to complete.

How do I print my Certificate of Completion?

First you have to view the course video, take the quiz and complete the survey. Upon completion of the Survey, you will be able to view and print your Certificate of Completion.  

Once you have completed the Survey:

>Select the Certificate of Completion tab from the Table of Contents
>Acknowledge the confirmation
>Select Print and Save
>Alternatively, if you do not wish to save the file, you may select the printer icon and the certificate will open in your print window.

Note, certain browsers will not enable full page print. In order to print a full page certificate, please use the Print and Save option.

Can I print my Certificate of Completion at a later date?

Yes. You may return to the course at any time to print (or reprint) your Certificate of Completion.  

How do I obtain usage reports for the Users at my institution?

Risk Management University Administrators may request usage reports by contacting Monica Turner at RMU@EIIA.org.

What about AlertDriving and in2vate courses? Are they still available?

The AlertDriving safe driving courses and the in2vate risk management courses are still available direct from those sites; they have not changed. However, you have to be registered on those systems in order to take those courses. If you would like access to either of these two training portals, contact your Risk Management Director. If you are not sure who that is, contact Monica Turner at RMU@EIIA.org.

I have more than one person on campus that requires training, can I schedule a group presentation?

Yes, a group presentation can be arranged for group sizes of three or more.  In addition, the group participants should not already have individual LMS access.  Please contact Monica Turner at RMU@EIIA.org to discuss your specific needs.

Does my institution have to designate an Administrator? Can we just enroll directly with the RMU Production Coordinator?

Every institution needs and administrator. It is a part of the process which ensures that the institution is authorizing those registering for courses.

Can an institution designate more than one Administrator?

For system licensing purposes, only one administrator will be assigned to the Learning Management System.  However, EIIA will keep record of additional administrators to identify as “back-up” or “informational” roles so that these individuals are also able to enroll users.

How does the Administrator assign courses to specific individuals?

The administrator only enrolls the User but does not assign the courses.  Users must log into the LMS with their unique id and password in order to register for a course.  Please note however, an administrator might recommend which courses are most applicable to specific individuals.
